Hello Everyone. Today Is my mum's Birthday and I sat for rather a long time wondering what to get her.
I thought It would be a nice Idea to look for a poem and pop It In a nice frame to go along with some flowers and chocolates, but after looking for 5 mins, I decided to write one myself. I waited on my Wee Treasure to come home from school then we caught the teatime bus.
Mister Man arrived on his bike and my mum was really pleased to see us all and loved her gifts. Along with other family members, we all sang Happy Birthday and watched my mum blow out her candles. It Is hard to believe that she Is 76 today. If I look like her at that age, I will be doing cartwheels! lol. I have posted the poem I wrote and added one of her favourite songs along with It's lyrics at the end.
Take Care Back Soon. xx
Happy Birthday Mum
Impeccable manners an example to follow,
No smoking or drinking or tablets to swallow
Your voice very soft yet, your will very strong.
The list of your good points just goes on and on.
A lady who cares more than one person should.
Through good times and bad times, she will make you feel good.
Always a phonecall to check we're okay,
Its lovely to know she's not too far away.
The kitchen Is where you will find my mum.
When the front door Is closed, the cooking's begun.
Homemade Jam and some Fairy Cakes,
Sausage and Tomato Pie, she so easily makes.
An animal lover like you wouldn't believe.
For her favourite "The Gorilla", she wears her heart on her sleeve.
Growing up with cats, dogs, chickens and goats,
Her favourite holiday, on the Cruise Liner Boats.
Remembering back to those very young years,
She would always be first to stop any tears.
Rocked back and forth with a gentle pat on the back,
Nothing else mattered, security intact.
Thank you mum for always being there.
For taking the time, to show that you care.
I've learn't very much, from all that you've done.
I love you so much.. My Friend... My Mum. xx
BENEATH THE LIGHTS OF HOME
Deanne Durbin - 1941
I can see the lights of home
Shining brightly o'er the foam;
Beckon to me while I roam
Away from lights of home.
I can see somebody there
loving eyes and silver hair
I can see her kneeling prayer
beneath the lights of home
In that little old sleepy town
Nothing happens when the sun goes down
not a thing but moonbeams run around
in a starry dome
Turn the hands of time for me
let me live my memory
once again I long to be
beneath the lights of home
In that little old sleepy town
nothing happens when the sun goes down
not a thing but moonbeams run around
in a starry dome
When the hands of time for me
let me live my memory
once again I long to be
beneath the lights of home.
